Have you EVER heard of this math term before? We use them all the time, but we don’t use their name.
First of all a vinculum is a horizontal line (or bar) used in math. It’s drawn OVER a group of numbers or terms in a mathematical expression. Everything that is underneath the bar is operated on as a single entity.
Here is an example. The bar under the 2 is a vinculum.

See the bars over the repeating decimals?

And one more…..Watch it all the way through! Math is a universal language. And what a great notebook she has!
We use them all the time but we haven’t known their name.
