Should Kids Have to Learn Math? Why?

As a student, I have personally wondered this many times.

Will I ever need to know this? The short answer is yes. Here are some reasons why.

Learning math helps you to slow down, analyze a problem, and devise a logical solution. Check and double check.

You might not have to solve a textbook math problem in the real world, but learning math wires your brain so that you can systematically solve real-world problems.

An example of this is when you are building something in construction, you will need to use a wide variety of math skills. From initial planning, slope of the land, measuring, visioning, engineering, quality control, safety, and finally…construction. It all uses math, graphing, and drawing tools, and must consider cost. All math-related.

So, the short answer and the long answer are both, “Yes”.
